Image size does not comply with photolab requirements

If you often print your digital photos in photolabs, you know that there are several standard sizes for printed photos. To have your photos printed correctly, it is advisable that their size should coincide with the suggested printing format. So, you have to open each photo in a graphics editor, change its size, keyframe it, specify its resolution, etc. It’s much easier to use special purpose software and prepare profiles for each size so that you could right-click a file, select the needed size and automatically convert this file into the needed format. Image Converter Plus can be used as such software.

To create such a profile, do the following:

Step 1:

  • Launch Image Converter Plus.

Step 2:

  • Go to Profiles tab. In “Operation before save: Add operation” line, click “Add operation” and select “Resize” from the menu.

Step 3:

  • Click “+” mark located to the left from “Add operation” line to open the group of settings for added operations.

Step 4:

  • In “Resize”, press “more” button. Specify the needed size of your photo in “Document Size” line (for example, 4×6 inches).

Step 5:

  • In “Horizontal Resolution”, enter 300 (which corresponds to printing resolution in photolabs) and enable “Use as Horizontal” checkbox.

Step 6:

  • Disable “Use original image resolution, in case it is supported” checkbox.

Step 7:

  • In “Fit mode”, select “fill in size”; in “Alignment”, select “center”.

Step 8:

  • Specify settings for the output format.

Step 9:

  • Select a file name format.

Step 10:

  • Press “Save As” button and enter a name (for example, “convert to 4×6”) for the profile. Do the same to create profiles for other standard photo sizes. Now, all you have to do to convert images to 4×6 format is right-click the needed file, select “Convert to” from the menu, then select “Convert to 4×6” and specify the target folder for the converted file.
