Poor readability of scanned texts

If you have scanned images of texts written on poor quality paper or poorly scanned, you have surely noticed that they can hardly be read due to their low contrast. Image Converter Plus will help you improve readability of such texts.

Do the following:

Step 1:

  • Launch Image Converter Plus.

Step 2:

  • Go to “Photos” tab, select and add files you want to process.

Step 3:

  • Go to “Profiles” tab, click “Add operation” in “Operation before save: Add operation” line and select “Color Effects” from the menu.

Step 4:

  • Click “Add operation” once again and select “Replace Color” from the menu.

Step 5:

  • Repeat step 4 once again.

Step 6:

  • Click “+” mark located to the left from “Add operation” line to open the group of settings for added operations.

Step 7:

  • In “Color Effects”, select “Grayscale” effect in “Apply … Effect” line.

Step 8:

  • In the first instance of “Replace Color”, select “black” and “black” in “Replace color … with color …” line, and enter 10..20 in “with tolerance … %” line (the value should be selected empirically).

Step 9:

  • In the second instance of “Replace Color” select “white” and “white” in “Replace color … with color …” line, and enter 10..20 in “with tolerance … %” line (the value should be selected empirically).

Step 10:

  • In “Save images in …. format”, select GIF format which is best for our case (file size will also be reduced).

Step 11:

  • In “With … colors”, select “2”.

Step 12:

  • Specify other settings for the destination file format (optimal values are specified by default).

Step 13:

  • Specify the folder to save converted images to.

Step 14:

  • Specify other settings.

Step 15:

  • Press “Start” button to start conversion.
