Research reveals that Image Converter Plus provides the most complete support for the TIFF format

Press Release (For immediate release)
Aug 14, 2009

The TIFF format is one of most widely used graphics file formats. The main concentration of the application for this format is its ability to archive documents and images due to its lossless compression features, ability to save images in different color spaces, as well as its capability to store detailed satellite metadata. Here, data archiving is the ability to preserve accessibility to information. In fact, your documents should open even after years of storage. Providing this support is very easy through the uniform format specification. The main goal of this research was to determine how well the popular image viewers and converters support the TIFF format.

In this study, the following software titles were tested:

Image Viewers:

FastStone 3.5
ACDSee 10.0 Build 238
IrfanView 4.20
XnView v1.94.2 en Libformat 5.05

Image converters:

FreeImageConverter 0.6.1.38
Image Converter .EXE v2.0.0.81
TotalImageConverter 2.1.1.11
ImageConverter Plus 7.1.20 b:80708

Ultimately, the research revealed that the most complete support for the TIFF format was provided by Image Converter Plus (69.13%) followed by XnView (55.55%).

Dmitry Moshkin, chief researcher for fCoder Research Lab, said, “It was very interesting to compare our graphics engine – the heart of Image Converter Plus – with other programs. Of course we are glad that we’ve proven to be the first, but still we have room to grow.”
