Image size vs. canvas size

The “canvas” is the visible area of the image. By default the size of the canvas coincides with the size of the layers. ImageConverter Plus can change the canvas size and make it smaller or bigger, for example if you know you want to print something that will fit in a specific frame. It is also useful if you want to make a montage and need all the images to be of equal size. When you modify the canvas size of an image, you either increase or decrease the amount of area of the image canvas. This means that adding to the canvas size will add extra area around the image – margins. Conversely, if you decrease the canvas size, the image will be cropped, meaning you will lose some of the image depending on where you crop it. When you modify the image size of an image, you change how large the image is. Image resolution remains unchanged unless you specify the opposite.
