Resize image

Image Converter Plus provides its users with Resize functionality. Resizing images is changing size of an image or a photo. Image resizer allows you to change source image size and proportion. Image resizer adjusts image size to fit the needed value using various scale modes and proportion calculations depending on settings used.

Image Converter Plus offers a professional set of various options and settings needed to resize images. Options and settings of Resize operation cover almost all tasks on changing image size and proportion. New image size is set in pixels or percent value. New size units are selected with the help of Units combobox.

Resize with specifying image size in pixels.

It is convenient to specify image size in pixels when you know the desired size of an image or a group of images.

Examples: To publish photos on the Web you often need to uniformly resize a group of images vertically and horizontally. Use Image resizer for this purpose. Specify the precise size in pixels. Enter the needed size of the resulting image. When you e-mail images, you often need to reduce image size so that the message size is reduced. Resize operation allows reducing image size to the needed one. Specify image size in pixels. Enter the needed size of the resulting image to ensure that the image is small enough for your message.

Resize with specifying relative image size in percent.

New image size is calculated basing on the old size using percentage. It is convenient to use this mode if you want to resize images basing on the original size of the image.

Resize operation has several additional settings. Additional settings of Image resizer allow detailed adjustment of Resize process:

Image resizer operations

    • “Document size” specifies image size in pixels or centimeters. It binds the image to pixels depending on the specified DPI value. This option is only available if “Pixel dimensions” option is set to Pixel mode.
    • DPI (Horizontal resolution and Vertical resolution) specifies horizontal and vertical resolution. It works together with “Document size” option. Besides specifying size in pixels per inch you can specify size in pixels per centimeter.
    • “use as horizontal” – use this option to specify same horizontal and vertical resolution. If horizontal resolution is changed, vertical resolution will also be changed.
    • “use original image resolution, in case it is supported” – use this option to detect resolution of the original image and use this resolution when the image is converted. Operation settings will be ignored.

Image resizer operations

  • “Keeping proportions” setting allows you to keep proportions of the source image. If you use this setting, proportions of the source image will be taken into consideration. If “keeping proportions” option is used, resulting image size may differ from horisontal or vertical size values you have entered. If “keeping proportions” option is not used, image size will coincide with the specified values. Switch off “keeping proportions” option to change proportions of the source image. Changing image proportions may be useful if the original image proportions are distorted. Switch off “keeping proportions” option and enter needed values manually to fix incorrect proportions of the source image.
  • If you increase image size, method of resampling the image may affect the quality of the resulting image. “Resize” operation offers two resampling algorithms: Nearest neighbor and Bilinear. Nearest neighbor resampling is simplest and fastest and it is used to quickly get a rough result. Bilinear resampling smooths colors of neighbor pixels and provides softer color changes between magnified fragments of the image.
  • “Don’t zoom, if source image size is smaller” option allows you not to magnify the image if source image is smaller than resulting image. Use “don’t zoom, if source image size is smaller” option if you change size of a set of images. Increasing size of small images may result in undesirable consequences, e.g. large square pixels or reduced image sharpness.

Image Converter Plus allows you to save the sequence of needed actions as a profile. Use profiles to save your time when processing images.
